Thanks, Gary. I had seen that page but thought that maybe you had some "hands-on" experience with either the i3 or i5. What I find confusing when I look at ads for computers is that in addition to the Intel "i" series and AMD processors I also see Intel processors just listed as Pentium or Celeron. lists Pentium and Celeron as available for the 64-bit architecture even for ivy Bridge. My past experience with Celeron (much older model) is that it's very weak. I wonder if it has improved?
My whole point about pondering this is that if one is looking for economy without sacrificing performance too much can other processors other than the "i" series be considered? Have you had any direct experience with the various Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge series of processors outside the "i" series?
