Can't log on to XP computer from others

Postby cjs41 » Wed Aug 25, 2010 8:42 pm

My home network has five computers on it and two are XP and three are vista. Everything works fine except my XP laptop requests a password for the other computers to access it. I have never had a password on it and nothing I use will work.
I have closed all the firewalls on the XP that I know about and still it asks for a password and user info. I can access the other computers from the XP perfectly just not the other way around. What can I try to remedy this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. CJ

Hello CJ

Try the following.

Click on Start> Run> type in cmd and press Enter.

Type in the following command.

net user guest *

Then press Enter twice to the password prompts. The password should be removed and file sharing returned to normal.
