Opening a Works8 spreadsheat in Excel

Postby pprim » Tue Dec 07, 2010 12:38 pm

I want to send a Works8 spreadsheet to someone who can open it only in Excel. They are not compatible. Is there any process wherby I can modify the Works file so that it can be opened in Excel?

Thanks for any suggestions you may have on this matter.

Hello Paul

Have the person with Excel try the following.

1. Open Microsoft Excel.
2. Click on the "File" drop-down menu, and select "Open," or click on the "Open" button that looks like a file folder in the toolbars. In the dialogue box that comes up, select "All Documents." Selecting just "All Word Documents" may hide the Works documents.
3. Find and select the Works document that you want to convert to Excel. Click "OK." The document will then open in Excel.
4. Save the document as an .XLS file, that is, as an Excel workbook. In other words, open the "File" drop-down menu again and select "Save As..." Then select "Excel Workbook" for the format option. If a dialogue box asks if you really want to convert it, answer "Yes."
Please respond and let us know the status of the issue.
