Choosing the most readable font in PowerPoint 2000 When mixing two different fonts, consider the x-height of the font. The x-height is the height of the lowercase x as well as of many lowercase letters, such as a, c, and e. Two fonts may be the same point size but have different x-heights. For example, Garamond has a much smaller x-height than Arial. As a result, the entire font looks smaller and is harder to read. To compensate, you could increase the font size of the Garamond text.
