Change Event Log Size

  1. Open the Event Viewer by clicking Start, Programs, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer. 
  2. In the left-hand pane, right-click the log that you want to change (for instance, Application Log or Security Log), and click Properties. 
  3. Next to where it reads "Maximum Log Size," type in the new size, or use the up/down arrows to adjust the size. The amount must be in 64KB increments. I usually use 5056KB. 
  4. Click OK (or Apply, then OK) to make the change effective. 
  5. Repeat the previous steps for each of the logs that you wish to adjust. 
  6. Close the Event Viewer.
