Create a Program Shortcut
- Right-click in the area of the
desktop, or in a folder, where you want the new shortcut to appear.
- Click "New" then click
"Shortcut."
- The "Create Shortcut"
wizard appears, prompting you for the location of the program you want to
create a shortcut for.
- Type in the path to the program,
or use the "Browse" button to find it.
- Click "Next" Type in a
name for the shortcut (any name you desire).
- Click "Finish" to
create the shortcut.
- Windows 2000 will automatically
choose an icon for the shortcut that it finds with the program, or a default
icon. To change it, right-click your new icon, and choose
"Properties."
- On the "Shortcut" tab,
click the "Change Icon..." button. You may get a message saying
that "The file filename contains no icons..." If so, click
OK.
- From the Change Icon window that
appears, choose an icon, and click "OK."
- Click "OK" again to
finish your changes.
