Network Hints 

Instead of connecting a drive letter to a network share, put shortcuts to those shares on your desktop or Start menu (for example, add a shortcut to \\documents\user\gary instead of redirecting this share to drive Z). This way, network shares are only connected when needed. If you work in a group, you may want to keep a folder on a public server for shortcuts to useful network locations.
