Start Button 

The Start button located on the task bar enables you to open a program or file, alter the settings of your system or receive help about Windows95.

Start Menu 

When you first start Windows, the task bar is located at the bottom of the screen. Click the Start button and a menu will display. The items on this menu contain most of the things you need to begin using Windows95. An arrow to the right of a menu item indicates that more items or submenus are present. When you pass the mouse over the arrow a submenu appears. Each item on the Start menu is explained below.

Programs

Programs displays a list of programs that can be run. To open a program move the mouse over the word Programs and a submenu appears. When you see the program you want to open in the submenu position the mouse on it and click

Documents:

 Documents presents a list of documents that have been opened previously. This is useful, for example, when you want to quickly open a document on which you have worked without searching for it on your computer. The Documents menu item also prevents you from first having to open up the application in which the document was created.

Settings:

 Settings allows you to change system components and settings such a screen colors, printers, etc

Find

Find allows you to find files and folders/directories located on your computer.

Help

This item will start the Help program within which you can get information about Windows95.

Run

This item will start a program or open a file or folder.

Suspend

Suspend saves the current system setting, shuts down Windows95, and turns off the computer. After you turn off the computer using the Suspend command, the computer, when restarted, will boot or restart much more quickly than if the Shut Down command was used.

Shut Down:

 This item shuts down Windows95 and turns off the computer. It can also be used to restart the computer.
