Stop Items from running in Windows 95 This is not as easy as Microsoft made it in Windows 98, but it's not all that hard either. There are 3 places you may find this program. Easiest first, right click on the "Start" button, click on "Open", double click on "Programs", double click on "Startup". If you see the program in question, delete it from here. Next, go to "Start", then "Run", type in "sysedit" (without the quotation marks), click on "OK". In the System Configuration Editor, you will see many windows overlaid, click at the top of the window of the one that reads WIN.INI to bring it to the front. Look for "RUN=" or "LOAD=" along these strings may be the program that you are looking for. Back space thru the program in question to remove it. Ensure that you leave RUN= and LOAD= in tact. Exit saving your changes.Last, go to "Start", then "Run", type in "regedit" (without the quotation marks). At the Windows Registry, I recommend backing this up before you attempt any changes here. That's done by clicking on "Registry" at the top left of the window. Choose "Export registry file" browse to "My Documents" (should be the default), name this file what ever you want, click on "Save". Okay, your safe now. Lets proceed . Follow this path; HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run. At "Run" click on this folder to open up its contents in the right pane. If that program your looking for is in here, you can right click it and choose "Delete".
