This is the first window you will see when open the program Outlook Express 6.0.  Go ahead and open your Outlook Express program so you can follow along with these slides.

The first thing we will do is set up an Account in order to send and receive email.  Click on the Tools menu in your program and go down and select Accounts.

When this window opens you will see all the accounts setup in the program when downloaded or installed from CD.  We are interested in the Mail program so select the Mail Tab in your program.

Ok now we are in the right window.  Click on the Add button in your program.

When you clicked on the Add Button in your program you should see a little menu open as you see here.  Select Mail in the menu in your program.

This is the first window to open in the Account set up wizard.  Most people just type in a first name in this box.  This is what appears in the From Field of your email.  You can use a Nickname if you choose.  After typing in the name Click on then Next button in your program.

In this window you will type in your Email address.  You would have selected this when you signed up with your service provider.  Just type in the address in your program and select the Next Button.

In this window the default setting POP3 will be what most people use unless you are trying to set up Outlook Express to check and online account such as Hotmail or Yahoo.  The incoming mail and outgoing mail settings would have been given to you when you opened your Internet Service Provider account.  Type the address's into your program and select the next button.

In this window the account name is usually the first part of you email address.  If this is a home computer it is OK to put a check mark in the box beside Remember password.  Don't ever save your password on a Public Computer as the person that comes along behind you will be reading your email.  Leave the box empty for Secure Password Authentication.  After filling in the Account Name select the Next Button in your program.

This is probably the window you have been waiting for.  Just click on the Finish Button in your program and then we will fine tune the Email account.

Remember this window?  This is where you started setting up the email account.  The window was blank before but should have an address something like the on shown in the slide.  Click on the Properties Button in your program.

In this window you can make any changes the Wizard didn't pick up.  If your reply address is different than the email address enter it into the Reply Address slot now.  Make sure there is a check mark beside Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing.  Click on the Servers Tab in your program.

You probably won't have to change anything in this window unless you decide to have the program save your password.  Remember...... Do not save the password on a public computer.  Click on the connection tab in your program.

If you are not using a Local Area Network in your home click on the drop down list and select the Dial-Up-Networking selection.  Other than that just leave this window as is.  Click on the Security Tab in your program.

You probably won't have to change anything in this window.  Just leave things as they are and click on the Advanced tab in your program.

Again in this window you will probably just leave it as is.  This time click on the Apply button at the bottom of the window and then the OK button on your program.

When you clicked on the Apply button and then the OK button you ended up back at this window.  Unless you want to add another Mail account just click on the Close button in the program on your computer.

You should be back at the Main Outlook Express window after pressing the OK button in the last window.  Now Click On the Send/Recv button in the window in your program.

In this window just enter you account name and then your password and click OK.  Your email program should connect with your Internet Provider and download your email.

This is where I will leave you.  You should be able to send and receive Email.

If you would like to see all of the slide in one window Click Here.  Caution....looking at all the slides at once will be a slow process for those of you with a Dial-In modem.  The whole slide show is a little over 1 megabyte so it may take several minutes to load.
