Modify The System Configurations On Your Windows XP Computer.
Some errors may occur because
of the System Configurations on your
Windows XP computer. This article explains
how to use the System Configuration Utility to turn off applications that
automatically start when your computer boots up.
This utility is available on
computers that have Windows XP and newer operating systems. You must be logged
on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group in order to
complete this procedure. If your computer is connected to a network, network
policy settings may also prevent you from completing this procedure.
Warning:
Microsoft strongly
recommends that you do not use System Configuration Utility to modify the
Boot.ini file on your computer without the direction of a Microsoft support
professional. Doing so may render your computer unusable.
Procedure
The following steps explain
how to temporarily disable all programs from automatically starting upon start
up. After disabling all Startup Items, try installing the program again to see
if it resolves the issue. The
Enable All section explains how to
re-enable all Startup Items.
Disable All
- Select
Start > Run.
- Type msconfig. The System
Configuration Utility dialog opens.
- Select the Startup tab.
- Click the
Disable All.
- Click
Apply.
- Reboot your computer.
- Run the installation again.
Enable All
- Select Start > Run.
- Type msconfig. The System
Configuration Utility dialog opens.
- Select the Startup tab.
- Click Enable All.
- Click Apply.
