Q. I
replaced the modem in my computer but I have been told I need to turn the one
off on the motherboard and I have no idea how to do that.
A.
Right-click on "My Computer" and select the Properties option. Click to the
Hardware
tab and click on the "Device
Manager" button. Click on the + next to the Modems label (if there is a -
next to Modems, then no click is needed). Select the internal
modem that is on
your motherboard (the name will have the modem's manufacturer in it, try to not
select the modem you just installed). Right-click on the selected Modem and
select the Disable option. You should see a red X appear for the modem.
Test to make sure that the modem you just installed is working. If it is not,
then go back through the same steps, except select the Enable option, instead of
the Disable option. If there was another modem listed, then try disabling that
modem.
