Q. I am using XP Home, Version 2002 with SP2 Firewall, also have Norton anti virus 2005 anti-spyware edition with firewall. I have read somewhere that it's best to use only one firewall, Is this correct?  If so which one do you think would be best?

A.  That is correct, you should only use one firewall.  Using two or more firewalls could cause many programs to stop working altogether.  Also, the firewalls may get in each others' way and cause some security holes that would not be there with just one firewall.

As for which one to use, I cannot tell you because it really comes down to a matter of preference. While I have not used Norton's firewall, they are a trustworthy company and their products are normally pretty good.  I do use Windows XP's firewall and it seems to do pretty good.  I have heard before that Windows XP's firewall is a very basic one and that could mean that Norton's firewall may have some additional security features that are not included with Windows XP's firewall.  If you find one easier to work with than the other, then I would go with that one.
