Q.
Every now and then the G & T drives will switch drive letters when this happens
I cannot get into the G drive.
I have a
HP computer with the following drives:
A: 3 1/2" floppy drive
C: Local drive
D:
CD drive
E:
DVD-RW drive
G: My Book "external drive"
T: Removable drive "HP Printer 7160"
Every now and then the G & T drives will switch drive letters when this happens
I cannot get into the G drive. Is there some way I can get into a built in
program and change drive letters?
A.
For a Fixed Disk:
1. Select it
2.
Right click
3. Select Change Drive Letter and Path
4. Click on the Edit button
5. Enter in the letter you want to use
For a Removable Disk:
1. In the lower, right hand panel, right click on the Disk or CD ROM #
2. Select Change Drive Letter and Path
3. Click on the Edit button
4. Enter in the letter you want to use.
Note that
if you connect the
USB drive to another computer, the memory of the drive letter
assignment will be lost, and it will again get the XP default assignment,
whatever that happens to be.
