Q.  My keyboard has extra buttons  for connecting to the internet, checking email  and playing cds/dvds/mp3 (play, pause, skip)  but the buttons don't do anything when i push them.  How do I assign the buttons to these tasks?

A.  Generally speaking, the keyboards that have these buttons come with software that will install the driver for the keyboards and allow you to configure the buttons to do whatever you want them to do.  If you have not already installed this software, then do so and that should give you the chance to configure the buttons.

If cannot install the software, then select the "Control Panel" option on the Start menu.  Within the Control Panel, see if you have a Keyboard option.  I actually have two keyboard options, one named "Keyboard" and one named "Keyboard (Rapid Access)".  I would use the "Keyboard (Rapid Access)" option to configure the buttons at the top of my keyboard.  If you only have the "Keyboard" option, then open that and look around in there to see if you can find the configuration for those buttons.  I can't really guide you any further than that because all keyboards and keyboard drivers are different.
