Q.  I ran a registry cleaner and now I loose connection to IE or Firefox within 5 to 10 minutes of starting up my PC. When running diagnoses on with IE I have the following message.

WinSock Diagnostic
WinSock status

Info Error attempting to validate the Winsock base providers: 2
Error Not all base service provider entries could be found in the Winsock catalog. A reset is needed.
Info Redirecting user to support call 

A.  This is why I have preached in past tips and answers to other questions that Registry Cleaners are more Malware or Spyware than they are worth.  There are a few that will work but I won’t even recommend them because they work on one computer and not the next.  Try the following to clear up your problem.

Try this at a command prompt:

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reboot and try it. If that doesn't help.

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults: netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reboot. 

To get to the command prompt just Click On Start> Run and then type in cmd and press enter.  Enter the commands above in the Dos Window that pops up.
