Q.  My problem recently has been when I boot my pc up I get this black screen asking if I want to start Windows XP or XP Professional and give me the options to pick of the 2.  I never had this problem until 1 day ago and I tried to do a system restore but it seems to had been disabled and all restore points erased anyways any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A.  These options are contained in the "boot.ini" file. The easiest way to view this is to run msconfig and look at the boot.ini tab.

There should be only one operating system listed unless you have tried to create a dual boot.

You can have msconfig test for valid boot paths. If one is invalid you can have it delete that.  Just click on the Check Valid Boot Paths button.

If they are both valid you have the option of setting one to a default and reducing the "timeout" so that there is little time delay in proceeding to that.

Otherwise you can run sysdm.cpl and look at the Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Edit tab.

You could delete one of the paths there, but make sure you delete the right one.

Let me know if you need anything else.
