Q.  When trying to log onto my laptop with Windows XP Pro I get the following message:  Unable to log you on because your account has been locked out, please contact your administrator.  How can I log on?

A.  Is this a work or home laptop? If work and you are on a company domain, ask your System Admin to unlock your domain account, if it is a home laptop then login with the default administrator account and unlock your account thru the MMC console.

To get to the MMC, right click your 'My Computer' icon, choose 'manage', when the console opens, on the left column click on users and groups to expand it. Then click on users folder, this will display all the users on the right screen. Right click on your user name and go to properties. This will open up the user settings and on the first tab you should see that there is a check mark in the "account is locked out". Uncheck it and log out as administrator then back in as you.  Hope this helps solve your issue.
