Q. I don't care for the search interface in Windows Explorer. Can I change it so that it's more like the Windows 2000 search?

A. Yes. You can modify the preferences of the Windows Explorer search as desired.

- To remove the animated character:

1. Click Search.

2. Choose Change preferences.

3. Choose Without an animated screen character.

- To remove the sequence of prompts:

1. Click Search.

2. Choose Change preferences.

3. Choose Change files and folders search behavior.

4. Choose Advanced - includes options to manually enter search criteria.

5. Click OK.
