Q.
Please help me find my "Show Desktop" shortcut.
I
inadvertently deleted my "Show Desktop" shortcut that resides on my
Quick Launch Bar... I somehow accidently dragged it to the desktop then
deleted it - the actual command and not just the shortcut, I believe. I have
become accustomed to it being on my Quick Launch over the years and I really
miss it. Is there any way to resurrect it? I know I can still right-click on the
task bar and click Show Desktop, but I much prefer the direct shortcut if I can
get it back. Any suggestions? I'm using
Windows XP SP2 Home Edition. Thanks for any help.

What you want to do is the following:
Open notepad and
Copy and Paste the following:
[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop
Now go to save as, instead of saving as .txt, use the drop down to select all
files. Save as exactly the following and save it to your desktop "Show
Desktop.scf" and you can now drag into your
Quick Launch Bar from the desktop.
A Second
Method Is:
Copy the
file from another user account
Every user
account will have a copy of Show Desktop.scf file. Search for the file named
Show Desktop.scf in your computer by logging in as
Administrator. Copy it to your user
profile path here:
%Appdata%\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Quick Launch
(Type the
above path in the
Start, Run dialog)
It is
important to note that there is never one fix for a question.
What may work for one person might not for the next. Depending on the problem
and the way it is described by the Computer Owner there may be Six different
approaches to a positive outcome. If the first answer I give you to your
question doesn’t work let me know and I will send you another.
Just give me details.
Let me know if you need anything else.
