Windows 98 can bypass the floppy search saving boot time. To disable the floppy search: Right-click on your Desktop. Choose "Properties". Click the "Performance" tab. Click the "file system" button and select the "Floppy Disk" tab. Lastly, uncheck the "Search for new floppy..." box. Click "Apply". Now when you reboot, Windows will bypass the floppy search saving boot time. NOTE: This will not prevent using an Emergency Recovery Disk.
