Remove Volume Control from Taskbar If you prefer to set the volume level at maximum and adjust your external speakers, you probably don't need to keep the Volume Control speaker Icon in the taskbar. If you want to remove it, here's how: Go to Start> Settings> Control Panel and double-click the Multimedia icon. Click the Audio tab, and in the Playback section, uncheck the Show Volume Control On The Taskbar option. Click OK and the Volume Control icon is removed.
