To rebuild the icon cache in Windows 98

To rebuild the icon cache, do the following: 

1. Right-click the desktop, select Properties, Appearance. 

2. Set Item = Icon. 

3. Look at your current icon size. Change it to 48; if it's already 48, change it to 32. 

4. Click "Apply". 

5. Change your icon size back to the original value. 

6. Click "OK".
