IntelliMouse Wheel Scroll Settings in Windows 98

If you have an IntelliMouse (the mouse with the wheel in the middle) Windows 98 enables you to scroll up and down within a list or window by rotating the wheel forward and back. The default number of lines scrolled is three with each discrete movement of the wheel.

To change the default setting, navigate the key string using the Registry Editor:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/desktopCreate a new string value called WheelScrollLines and set it to the number of lines you want to scroll.

You need to restart Windows 98 to enable this effect.
